ACT OF FAITH
Coffee with Paul
is an act of faith in search of God.
Longing for the presence of God, we are a group
of Christians bound by the pursuit that Scripture, as the written and
proclaimed word of God, not only should be offered words of great respect, but
pursued with energy, responsibility, and expectation. It is not enough
that Christians claim a high view of Scripture, they must act
upon it or the claims mean nothing.
For it is Scripture
-
that unfolds the story of God as creator and seeker of mankind and
keeper of his promises; as in the flesh, Jesus, anointed,
rejected, killed, and on the 3rd day raised; and as ever-present
Spirit in the world, alive in those who accept him.
-
that empowers all those who have become a new creation in Jesus
Christ, to accept, through God's very Spirit, the power and
responsibility to be lovers of God with all heart, soul, and mind,
without neglect or coercion by any human formulation, tradition,
expectation, or prejudice.
-
that enjoins all seekers of God to "remove the veil," not as students
of the letter alone, and certainly not of human tradition or
convention, but as urgent in heart, as responsible and diligent in
mind, and as out-reaching in Spirit for the advocacy of the sustained
and powerful reading of Scripture as God's written word, worthy of so
much more than mere human praise or beautifully written words;
worthy, indeed, of our very selves, as if in conversation with God
himself.
There are many statements of faith by
Christians around the world, against which we bring no quarrel, save
those which speak well of Scripture in all the right words, but which
act in ways of neglect or abuse. Our statement here, simple and
inadequate it may be, is an offering of faith nonetheless, trusting that
our feeble efforts and writings will more fully attest to the joys and
longings of our hearts than any brief statement can encompass.

What Others
are saying
about
Coffee with Paul

Coffee with Paul is a blessing to the world. I am completely
blown away by the message it has to give. Structurally it is by far
the easiest devotional to follow and really sink your teeth into
what Paul was saying. What incredible faith both he and the early
Christians had. They are an example for all of us to follow.
Thank you for sharing this and your love of God with me. Kudos on
finding an incredible way of spreading the word of God in an
understandable way.
