Aroma
is a "Coffee with Megan" true story from the point of view of one
struggling young woman who is wanting to grow and learn. It's about
reading Scripture in the midst of life and how the two
relate to each other.

in Devotion
This is not typical devotion. Eavesdrop on a real
conversation during a 14 week discussion group about reading the
Bible for practical, devotional application. This is a free and non-invasive way to see "what's
up."
1. You learn by doing.
This is a real discussion-group about reading the Bible. Not a classroom, or a fill-in-the-blank,
or a test-taking approach. Rather, you'll actually be like a "fly on
the wall" in the coffee shop where this group is meeting.
2. You start at the beginning.
Click the blue button "Include Me!" on the right and you'll
be part of all 14 sessions.
You'll be a silent observer watching
a 20's something young woman named Megan, and her friend Jason,
who are spiritually
searching for what's “going
on” in the wider-world of effective Scripture reading. Like
you and so many others, Megan and Jason are trying to find ways to take
their Christian devotional life to the next level.
You will watch and listen as they are guided into the world of a
conversational approach to Scripture. You'll also be able to
participate on some levels.
3. The goal is to expand your Bible-reading experience,
skills, and practices with a focus on spiritual formation and
development. The very name, Aroma, is derived from Paul's use of the
word in describing those who follow Christ:
"For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being
saved."
4. You will participate in responsible conversations over Scripture
and cover territory that is usually left out of many Bible
devotions and Bible reading
approaches:
-
the magnitude of reading contextually
and responsibly,
-
the value of seeing English translations as attempts to
understand,
-
the merit of approaching a text through a new translation
for greater perspective,
-
the importance of proper procedure when doing word studies
or comparing one part of Scripture to another,
-
the usefulness of reading other ancient books along with
the Bible,
-
the joy of tapping deeply into areas of Scripture
that most people rarely or never go,
-
and so much more.
